Europride London 2006

Europride now back in 2006 back to London where it all began in 1992. Vast, vibrant and truly multicultural, London is one of the worlds great cities widely recognised as one of the gay capitals of the world, with a huge gay scene offering fabulous shopping, clubs and bars to suit all tastes and cosmopolitan cuisine to make your mouth water. Now the Civil Partnership Act coming into force in December 2005, it's never been a better time for London to host Europride 2006.

The Europride Festival starts from Friday 16 June to 1 July 2006, leading up to Europride Day on Saturday 1st July 2006. Europride day will begin with the Europride Parade from Marble Arch, down Oxford Streer for the first time.

Last year an estimated 250,000 people celebrated London Pride. This is expected to double for Europride 2006. Visiting London can seriously damage your wallet, but it is possible to enjoy the city without the capital punishment. Many of London's best features are completely free of charge - the parks, many of the museums and churches, the markets at Portobello, Camden, Smithfields and Columbia Road. During 2000 two new tourist attractions opened on the South Bank in London: the "London Eye", which is the world's largest big (Ferris) wheel, and the Tate Modern Gallery at Waterloo. To eat, Balans on Old Compton Street, the centre of the gay universe, along with its partner over in Earl's Court, and saw that it was good - but not that good, with its so-so food options and preening pumped-up muppets.
