A word about condoms:
It isn’t possible to guarantee the quality, or even availability of decent condoms and lube outside of the UK, so take lots. Then take more.
Check with your GP which vaccinations you need for the country you are visiting at least six weeks before you travel.
Check if any medication you take is illegal in the country that you’re visiting.
Pack all medication in your hand luggage. If you’re taking prescribed medication,
take the prescription and a doctor’s letter with you.
Do you need a Tetanus jab? You need a booster very ten years. Also, have you had all of your Hepatitis injections?

Make a note of your passport number, date and place of issue (or take a photocopy), and keep separately in a safe place.
Leave a photocopy of your passport and visas with a friend at home. Keep your passport in the hotel safe, and carry a photocopy with you.
If your passport has been lost or stolen, report the loss to the police and obtain a Certificate of Loss. Contact the nearest British Embassy, Commission or Consulate immediately for advice.
Check the passport expiry date – some countries won’t let you in if there are less
than six months before your passport expires.
Write the full details in your passport of whom you want contacted in the event of an emergency.
Take a second means of photo identification with you.
For further information on obtaining a passport, visit the UK Passport Office website www.ukps.gov.uk, or call their national advice line on 0870 521 0410.

Insurance, as far as being gay is concerned, this shouldn’t greatly affect your Insurance choices, but here are some basic pointers:
You shouldn’t be asked any offensive, intrusive or insulting questions – If you are, it might be time to try a different company.
Does it cover you for the holiday you expect to take, and any special activities you might do? Parachuting, anyone? Many insurers will extend cover; otherwise, shop around for a specialist policy.
What is the policy’s excess?
Does it cover medical and health, personal liability, cancellation and possessions?
If you’re travelling in the EU, get Form E111 from the Post Office for reduced or free emergency care. But remember, you should still buy travel insurance.
Please see our Insurance page for some great deals!
